Do you feel like you are always at the gas pump? What if I told you there are some helpful tips to keep you on the road longer and at the gas pump less?
Checking your tire pressure is important for many reasons. Having an underinflated tire can cause all kinds of issues with your vehicle. By checking the pressure in your vehicle, you can possibly get better gas mileage which is going to keep you from having to spend so much money on gas.
What does an air filter have to do with your gas mileage? It’s pretty interesting, your air filter’s job is to filter the air that is going to the engine, so it isn’t ingesting a bunch of dust and particles. Just like a vacuum, the air filter can get clogged. When this happens, your engine has a harder time getting air through. Your engine management system will then compensate by richening the mixture that goes through the engine. That means it will use more gas! Make sure to look at your manual and change your filter as recommended.
Clean out your car of unnecessary items. Extra items in your vehicle weights down your vehicle making the car work harder, which in turn uses more gas.
Most vehicles are less efficient once they reach speeds of sixty miles per hour. Also, you want to make sure you are not quickly accelerating from a stop, this makes your engine have to work harder and makes it guzzle more gas.
You want to make sure the seal on your gas cap is still good. Over time the rubber on the seal can break down and start to get cracks. When this happens, air is allowed to leak into the gas tank. This causes a surplus of oxygen to enter your engine while it is pulling gas from the tank.
